Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I drop off a sample?
For full compliance testing, we prefer to come to you. If you don't require OAR compliance certification, you can drop off a sample at our Eugene laboratory during our regular business hours.  Please contact us at 541-735-3328 to make an appointment.

What are your hours?
We are open Monday - Saturday, 10am to 4pm, closed on all major holidays.  Setting an appointment to come in will expedite your sample processing.  Please contact us at 541-735-3328 to make an appointment.

Why do you prefer to come to me for a full compliance sample submission?
To maintain a legally representative chain of custody on our full compliance samples, a trained OG Analytical sample technician should take a representative sample from the batch.  Rather than have you bring us the entire batch, we offer a free courier service to dispensaries in our Partnership Program network.

Who is responsible for submitting the sample?
HB 3460 regulates dispensaries, not cultivators.  OAR 333-008-1190 states the the PRF (Person Responsible for the Facility, ie: dispensary owner/manager) is responsible for submitting samples of each batch for testing.

My dispensary told me I needed to have my product tested before they would compensate me for it. How can I get it tested?
Unfortunately, many dispensaries are either unclear of the appropriate steps to meeting compliance, or are simply choosing to ignore them.  You can read the testing regulations, OAR 333-008-1190, on the oregon.gov website here.  Cultivators are welcome to bring us samples for testing prior to delivery to a dispensary, however, we cannot provide a certificate of compliance for products tested at the grower level.

Why can't you provide a certificate of compliance for products tested at the grower level?
OG Analytical is unable to maintain a legally representative chain of custody on cannabis tested at the grower level.  However, we are working on a program that will allow us to certify an entire harvest per strain.  This includes special tamper-proof packaging and a unit tagged barcode system that will allow dispensaries to validate your results per unit at point of sale. Please check back with us on this program.

What is the sample size?
We require 6 grams of dried flower or concentrate to run a full-spectrum compliance test: 1 gram for the Microbial Screen; 1 gram for the Cannabinoid Test, and 4 grams for the Pesticide Screen

Why do you require 4 grams for the Pesticide Screen?
We require 4 grams for the Pesticide Screen because toxic pesticides used in Oregon do not fall neatly into a few categories; we run a more comprehensive pesticide screen than any other lab in the State and this requires a larger sample size than you may be accustomed to.

How much does it cost?
Pricing varies according to the type and number of tests ordered. Please call us for a price sheet.

  • A basic cannabinoid profile is $80 for medibles and $65 for all other products.
  • Method development for new products may encur additional fees.
  • Full Compliance tests start out at $220, but fall dramatically based on how many you order
  • Discounts are available through our Partnership Program.

What kind of bulk order discounts do you offer?
We offer great discounts!  The more samples we run, the cheaper it is for us to run them, and we're happy to pass those savings off to you.  Please call us for a price sheet.

What constitutes a "Batch?"
A "Batch" is any amount of usable cannabis product defined by type (e.g. flower or concentrate), strain (e.g. Sour Diesel), and production run (i.e. time the product was processed)

How soon will the results be ready?
This depends on the type of test you order.  With no backlog, full compliance results will be ready in 3-5 business days, and a basic cannabinoid profile can be completed next day.  With heavy volume, we anticipate turn-around times of 5-7 days.  New or unique products requiring method development will take longer.  Please contact us to discuss timing of new or unique products.

Where are you located?
We are located in West Eugene.  For security reasons, we don't publish our address.  If you would like to visit the lab, please call us to setup an appointment.  Our mailing address is PO Box 21406, Eugene, OR 97402.

What are your qualifications for running a lab?
Our Lab Director has a PhD in plant genetics and over 18 years of analytical chemistry experience.  We also boast over 10 years of accumulated experience in the cannabis industry.  Please visit the Meet the Team page on our website for more information on our qualifications.

Do you test edibles?
Why, yes.  I'm glad you asked.  We use HPLC to test cannabinoids, which is able to produce an accurate true value of total cannabinoids in any given sample, including edible, topicals, and tinctures.  GC uses heat during the analytical process, and thus causes degradation of cannabinoids.  Because of this, GC is not able to provide accurate quantitation of many cannabinoids in edibles, including THC, THCA, CBN, CBD, and CBDA.  Edibles do take a little bit longer to test, because we have to remove the fats from the product before we can run the sample through our instrumentation.  Please allow 1-3 extra days for edibles testing.

What do you need from me to submit a sample?
Along with your sample, we will need the following things from you:

  • A current, valid OMMP card for our records
  • A valid State issued ID card
  • Full payment for the test pack you order, unless prior arrangements have been made.
